Trails West! ® Chooses Artwork
to represent “170 Years of Innovation”
The Allied Arts Council is
proud to announce the winner of the 2013 Trails West!®
Artwork Competition,
Fran
Texeira. With over forty submissions, it was
hard for the committee to choose which piece of artwork
would embody the festival for its 21st
year, and theme
“170 Years of Innovation.”
For
this particular competition, Texeira was inspired by the
theme of the festival itself.
“I
incorporated an old, make-believe time machine. The
machine is churning out a myriad of colorful bubbles
representing a joyful celebration and the passing of
many years,” said Texeira.
Fran Texeira is the mother of
three adult boys and the proud grandmother of one
beautiful girl. Currently Texeira resides in St. Joseph,
MO. Texeira graduates in December with a BFA in Graphic
Design from Missouri Western State University, and is
excited to embark on a new chapter in her life.
