Nathan Laube
Organ Recital
April 11, 2010,
3:00 p.m.
Francis
Street First United Methodist Church
12th & Francis, St. Joseph, MO
Nathan Laube, a 21
year-old rising star among young
classical musicians, will play an organ
recital on Sunday, April 11, at 3:00
p.m. on the large 44 rank pipe organ in
Francis Street First United Methodist
Church, 12th and Francis
Streets, across from Civic Center Park.
A Chicago native,
Laube began piano studies at age 5 and
recently graduated with honors from the
prestigious Curtis Institute of Music in
Philadelphia, where each week as part of
his studies, he had to memorize and play
a major organ work for his peers. As a
result, he has developed an expansive
concert repertoire, including his own
transcriptions of orchestral
masterworks. His astounding technique
coupled with a gracious demeanor creates
an audience-friendly recital.
The recital is
sponsored by the St. Joseph Chapter of
the American Guild of Organists as part
of an initiative to promote young
artists and attract music students. The
$7.50 admission fee will be waived for
any student with an ID or one person,
friend or parent, accompanying a
student. AGO is also sponsoring a free
Masterclass on keyboard techniques
presented by Laube on Saturday, April
10, from 10:30 a.m. until noon in the
sanctuary of St. Francis Xavier Church,
27th & Seneca Streets.
Essential financial
assistance has been provided by the
Allied Arts Council of St. Joseph and
the Missouri Arts Council, a state
agency. For more information, please
